Hello, David,

Our household subscribes to NEWSWEEK and so I've had a chance to peruse this issue at some length, as well. The cover put me off, too, at first, but then the grim humor of it all took over and now I think it's just fine. That is, "global warming" actually IS a hoax because what we're actually facing is "global climate disaster," pure and simple. Yes, indeed, that's what it is and that's what we're in fact up against.

However, the true high-hilarity of the issue is to be seen on page 29, where none other than Sen. "Jay" Rockefeller is quoted as saying that the climate naysayers, funded in the main by Exxon-Mobil, have published some "very questionable data." Let me see, what is "Jay's" real name? Could it be "John D. Rockefeller, IV?" Yes, it could, as befits the great-grandson of the founder of both Exxon (Standard Oil of New Jersey) and Mobil (Standard Oil of New York).

Now, THAT'S a hoax -- of sorts -- because Sen. Rockefeller, a Democrat (!) and one of the world's most spectacularly oil-soaked men, is now chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, from which height he has done just about nothing concerning the war in oil-soaked Iraq, or about "global warming," either. In fact, his style of "condemnation" amounts almost to faint praise, it seems to me.

Also to be seen on page 29 are the results of a recent NEWSWEEK poll showing that far fewer than half of all Americans are willing to do anything important about "global warming." What they might be willing to do about
"global climate catastrophe" was not reported. --
