Hi, Val -- The fact that the Financial Times uses misleading language is probably due to the fact that journalists in general do not have very much training in the fields of science, economics, and statistics. Not only that, but some of them have never learned to write clear, simple sentences that anyone can understand. These phenomena are apparent everywhere you look (except, of course, on Star Phoenix Base and a few other sites!). That's one point. The other is that the mainstream media are infested by liberals who want to wish away all the problems in the world and raise taxes to the Moon so that everyone can be rich, hunger in the third world will be eradicated, and peace will descend upon the Earth. (Oh, yeah, they don't know much about logic and common sense, either.) -- David
